Ecency
I have less work this January, so I am using the time to explore some of my favourite hobbies. I can unleash my full nerdiness!
I actually started writing this on my Ecency blog, but as I continued writing longer than I initially planned, I moved the whole text here and rather link the snippet on Ecency. I do have to toot my own horn here, eh? (meaning, I need to get traffic to my homepage instead of my Ecency blog. Although it would be nice too. If you are in Ecency, hit me up!
Nostr and wallet
I have been in Nostr (npub13rnpv04jy9cwzapt4na3ze9t6jtq044vk5pypj0axeacycggml3qy4vv3c) since 9 December 2024 and I have pretty much zero knowledge about what I am doing there. (well ok, maybe a little more than zero… like 9) But yeah, it is another social media that is based on cryptos.

So today I finally managed to connect my wallet. I chose the Wallet of Satoshi, since it seemed very straightforward kind of app. I did it today, because I actually found out that you cannot zap (repost, retweet, reshare, whatever you like to use here) if you don’t have a wallet linked. So no wonder I have received zero interactions there. Hopefully that improves in the future.
So now what is left is to find out how can I update my DM key, so that I can receive DM’s. It’s not a big deal, I don’t actually want to receive any DM’s, but the problem is, that I cannot stand the idea of something not being completely done or finished. It really bothers me!
I just realised what is lacking from Nostr. The unwanted DM’s! My god, the quietness! It’s like Finland!

Comet
I also got familiar to a browser called Comet. It’s made by Perplexity. Very sleek, shiny and light. I just am not so keen on the idea that an AI is following all my online activities and drafting databases of everything I see online. I am not very sure what is the point of this kind of online assistant. Not yet anyway. I keep playing with it during January. When I was using Linux (approximately 2001-2014) I was only relying on Chromium and Firefox.
Upon switching to Apple products I have only been using Safari since. There are some work software that have needed to be installed as an addon to Chrome so I have been using it on the side for work related stuff, since there is no Safari version available. And I am a huge fan of Opera but I don’t see any sense in having 4-5 browsers on the computer. Alas, I currently have Safari, Opera, Chrome and now Comet. Firefox is really nice as well, but … I try to stick to the computers native sofware as much as I can. I am a some sort of purist in that sense.
It would be different alltogether if I was only using Linux. Linux and the software you use on it, is a whole new ballgame. I would switch if I had something good to replace Adobe CC with. I have been a subscriber for 12 years now. It’s a whole lof of money.
Don’t you think that I think way too much tech stuff for a woman in her 50´s?
