My Alternative CV

Ie. strange and different things that I did, but are not on my actual CV.

🇮🇹 Moving to Italy

We had to move to Italy, as my husband did not get a residence permit in Finland. We did not want to move to Italy so this was not a holiday or a nice touristic trip to us. I did not speak a word of Italian.

We had a lot of troubles. I was not able to register myself to Italy until 2 December, after which we started applying for the residence permit for my husband.

Starting my Own Business

To be able to work from Italy, I started my own business business when I was offered a job as a Google Ads Reviewer through Tech Firefly. Obviously, it is not possible to work as a hired employee when the employee is in another country. So I did. Yes, you have a gmail.com address, but I had a google.com address.

I also got a job as an EU/EACEA Erasmus+ OLS Community Manager for Finnish language. I work with EU Academy platform. Come and say hi! 🇪🇺 Learn Finnish With OLS!

TEDxOulu

I was volunteering for TEDxOulu. Sadly we left the country when the event was, so I was not able to attend. My role was the Marketing and Communications Coordinator. I would have continued the work but we had to go to Italy.

🏡 TEDxOulu was organised 10 April 2022

Red Cross – PR and Communication

I was volunteering with the Finnish Red Cross Oulu District, Oulu subsection. I was there for a PR and Communication Volunteer for one year and I would have stayed longer but we had to go to Italy.

🇫🇮 DIMMY

I attended DIMMY, a Training project for Digital Sales and Marketing of 5 months. This course was in Oulu University of Polytechnic Sciences.  I had a lot of fun on the course. We made for example this video where we had to handle disappointment and courage. (this was not a video editing course)

Tammikuussa järjestimme #tweetkainuu – tapahtuman. Minä olin innostajana, idean äitinä ja tuottajana. Ylläpidin myös www-sivuja. Mukana neljä rohkeaa kainuulaista kaveria, yksi juonsi, kaksi livetwiittasi, kolmas kuvasi. Kokouksissa olimme kaikki paikalla ideoimassa. Tapahtumalla oli oma sivu ja keräsin artikkelit yhteen kohtaan tweetkainuu-arkistoon.

Production trainee in Ihon Alla (Replacements) TV show

Location scouting for Finnish Waltari – band

In November 2014 I had the honour of playing a minor part in Waltari – Diggin the Alien musicvideo videoshoot. I was able to scout them the video location, which happened to be the back forest of my grandmas house in Kontiomäki, Kainuu.

I have my own IMDB page here. I am so childishly proud of it.

moricon paltamo

Moricon was held in Paltamo, in early winter of 2013. I was the project manager. The project was granted finanding from the Leader group for 18 000 EUR and we organised a small convention with the amount. There were about 200 partakers in the convention, speakers, hobbyists, and other general public who were curious of the event.

The logo was designed by Jenni Valtanen who is from Paltamo. She spent a year in Japan as an exchange student.

I finally returned home from Scotland on the last day of October 2007. Home, Finland. ❤

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Moved to Glasgow, Scotland

Scotland called in September 2005. Yet again, the destiny played a role as I was actually looking for jobs in Ireland and someone from Scotland reached out and asked whether I would be interested in Scotland instead. I said yes and 3 weeks later I was on a plane. My work with Shell Shared Service Centre Glasgow Ltd last 2 years. I am very frustrated for the fact that I kept a blog during the time I was abroad and when I transferred to another platform, I didn’t keep the articles. What kind of short-sighted thinking was that?!

On the other hand, I do have my hand-written journals… but I have never gone back to them. Maybe I should refresh my memory.

🇳🇴 Moved to Halden, Norway

I moved to Halden, Norway in August 2000, as it was compulsory to spend a semester abroad, as ap art of my studies. I actually tried to apply to Lyon, France, but they replied 12 months too late. Norway was my second choise and they replied very quickly, so Halde it was! The school I joined for one full year was called Høgskolen i Østfold. But I ended up staying in Norway until September 2005.

🇳🇦 Namibia – Practical training

I ❤️ Namibia

From January 2000 I worked with the Oniipa Environmental Project in Oniipa, Ovamboland, Namibia. The practical training period lasted for 6 months. The project was funded by The Foreign Ministry of Finland and North Karelia Development  Association in Joensuu.

My tasks included assisting with the marketing of the local museum and teaching word processing in several locations of ELCIN. (Evanchelical Lutheran Church of Namibia)

The highlight of this project was to teach the retiring bishop, Kleopas Dumeni. He retired that year and planned to write his memoirs. But I have never heard if he actually did that.
