I aim to have my YouTube channel monetized before February 2027. But I’m going to be honest. I haven’t been active enough with my YouTube-channel. Youtube recently issued a heads-up, that from 1 February 2027 onwards, you need 8000 watch hours, to get monetized. Currently the requirement is 4000, during the past 365 days, from the days date.
My goal is to get monetized, but I currently have 106 subscribers and just 166 public watch hours out of the 4,000 required, (for the past 365 days). That means I still need 3,834 more watch hours, so I am nowhere near my goal yet. I plan to update my journey on my socials, as I grow towards this target.
I know that building a YouTube channel takes time. So I need to keep learning, creating better videos, and finding the right audience. But it can be difficult to grow when each new video brings only a few new subscribers. I have done the mistake of changing my video topics too much, and publishing too seldom, to give the channel algorithm a real chance of finding the people who might watch my channel.
What is my YouTube channel about?
I make YouTube videos about my life, travel, living in Finland (and in the past living in Italy and Sweden), everyday experiences, and starting over when life takes you in a new direction. I want to keep sharing these things and hopefully find more people who enjoy following my journey.

Watching a video from beginning to end, when you genuinely enjoy it, helps build my watch hours.
